Public Sector Equality Duty
Equality Statement
At Walton-on-the-Hill Primary School, we celebrate diversity and champion equality.
Staff and governors are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone is respected, valued and thrives. We work hard to ensure equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff, parents and carers, irrespective of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, belief, disability, socio-economic background or any other protected characteristic.
Our Equality Statement, Public Sector Equality Duty and Equality Objectives (published here) articulate our duty to promote equal opportunities and to address discrimination in all its forms.
- We foster a nurturing and inclusive school culture that promotes attitudes and values that challenge any stereotypes, biases, discriminatory behaviour or prejudice.
- Our admissions arrangements are fair and transparent.
- We offer accessible resources and a rich curriculum, with diverse perspectives and role models.
- Our Senior Leader and Governors closely monitor our equality and inclusion policies and practices, ensuring that we are using our resources effectively and making positive progress.
- We collaborate with parents, carers, school visitors and the wider community to reinforce the shared responsibility for fostering an inclusive ethos, and we encourage feedback on how we can improve.
- We observe good equalities practice in staff recruitment, retention and development. We are taking action to ensure that the staffing and leadership of the school reflects the diversity of our community.
