At Walton on the Hill we are fully committed to ensuring that our children are fit, healthy and active learners. We aspire to be a school that offers every child the opportunity to fulfil their absolute potential and we realise the vital role that sports and outdoor learning needs to play in realising those goals. We want our children to make healthy choices, to enjoy physical activity and to appreciate its benefits while embodying our core values of collaboration and fair play.
We offer a varied PE curriculum which is enhanced by our specialist sports coaches who work alongside staff to deliver quality PE lessons; our specialist dance teacher who delivers dance sessions to each class throughout the year whilst also offering CPD to staff; and our Key Stage 2 swimming and water safety lessons.
As well as our core PE curriculum, children are given many other sporting opportunities including; extra-curricular clubs, such as table tennis, gymnastics, netball, team sports, tae-kwan-do and dance; local 'have-a-go' sports sessions; and sporting fixtures with other local schools.
Our oldest children have the opportunity to be part of our school Sports Crew. They work alongside our sports coach each week to develop their sport and leadership skills to enable them to deliver activities to other children within the school.
The Sports Premium money that we receive is spent in a number of ways with the ultimate intention of providing high quality sustainable PE provision for all. The impact will be measured through participation and achievement in sport, but also through pupil’s engagement in every other area of the curriculum, through improved self-esteem, health and well-being. Please see our Sport Premium Funding Page for more information.
