Pupil Parliament

Our Pupil Parliament is a group of students elected by their fellow pupils to help make decisions about Walton on the Hill Primary. Pupil Parliament ensures that children's voices and views actively shape our school community. It provides pupil leadership opportunities and enables children to develop communication and collaboration skills.

We have two Members of Pupil Parliament from every class in the school, except reception. Any pupil from Year 1 to Year 6 can apply for the role. Each candidate explains why they want the responsibility of representing pupils, then a class election is held, where children vote for two candidates.

Governors and senior leaders work together with Pupil Parliament to improve our school environment, foster our school values and make important decisions about the school. For example, in 2024 and 2025, Members of Pupil Parliament took part in interviews for a new school Headteacher and Deputy Head, asking their own questions and giving excellent insights about candidate responses.

'Pupil parliament is a fun way to make decisions for the school and learn about responsibility. One of my favourite parts was interviewing the new headteachers.' Year 4 MPP
